Tribute to Grandpa Nelson

In honor of a wonderful friend, we dedicate this page to Grandpa Nelson. He was a great fan and supporter of fastpitch softball. Grandpa Nelson was a strong believer in the life lessons that could be learned from participating in competitive sports. His ever present smile and encouragement from behind the backstop will be missed.

Robert "Grandpa" Nelson, Sept. 8, 1924 - Sept 13, 2004 Bob Nelson died peacefully at home after a long struggle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Harriet Nelson; 4 sons, Paul (Gail), Mark, Curtis (Britta) and James; 9 grandchildren, Pete (Michele), Thomas, Robert, Adam, Derek, Dallas, Christianna, Kaylee, Marriana; sister, Joanne (Harold) Friden; and many other family and friends. A 31 year employee of S.J. Groves & Sons Construction Company and co-founder of Elke Corporation, he was a kind and generous man who will be remembered in our hearts forever.
